Project: Research on Cationic Polymerization ofIsobutylene Initiated by H2O/AlCl3 in Microreactor




1. Simulation of mixing and flow in the microreactor



Combining CFD simulation andexperimental methods, the temporal and spatial profiles of mixing and flow insudden expansion, extraction and coiled tube were revealed. Through theresearch, the optimization criterion of microreactor’ geometric construction wasdeveloped for choosing an optimal reactor for reactions


2. Polymerization of isobutylene in the flow reactor



We have built a microflow system which is suitable for the research of cationic polymerization.On the microflow platform, we have investigated thecharacteristic of chain reactions initiated by H2O/AlCl3, the polymerization precesses under intensified mixing, the controlledsynthesis of highly reactive polyisobutylenes, and so on.
